Mount Manaslu Expedition begins from the famed and former ancient Kingdom of Gorkha located North Mid-West Nepal Himalaya, listed as world’s eight highest mountains at the height of 8,163 m / 26,781 ft which was first conquered by Japanese Expeditions with team of T. Imamishi, K. Kato, M. Higeta led by Nepalese climber Gyalzen Norbu Sherpa in May 9th 1956.
Mt. Manaslu Expeditions survey was conducted by a Japanese team for the first time in 1952 and it was first ascended by a Japanese expedition in 1956 but the photograph of the peak was first arrested by HW Tillman and Jimmy Roberts while on trekking in 1950.
The word 'Manaslu' originated from ancient Sanskrit word "Manas", meaning "intellect" or "soul" similar to holy lake Manasrover located near Mt. Kailash in Southern West Tibet.
Mt. Manaslu has been always regarded as"Japanese mountain" by the Japanese as ' British Mountain' to the Everest by the British.
Another successful attempt was also made by the Japanese expedition in 1971.In the same year; a South Korean team as well attempted the peak and was successful till 2002, it was recorded that 175 climbers topped the summit following 120 expeditions and the spirit of mountaineering to Mt. Manaslu continues till present.
Mt. Manaslu at present getting much popular among wide world adventurers and mountaineers due to its straight forward climb to the summit top which is least technical difficult than other eight Thousand meters peaks around Himalaya.
Mt. Manaslu also known as Kutang by native of Manaslu valley which is of Tibetan origin language with similar culture and traditional way of life with Tibetans just across the border beyond Sama and Samdu Gaon where our trek and climb diverts from the main trail after Sama-Gaon to reach Manaslu base camp for the great and fascinating ascent on top world highest Mt. Manaslu.
Starting with exciting drive from the capital Kathmandu to reach Nepal North Mid West where journey leads into warm valley at Arughat town within Gorkha areas, then following Buri-Gandaki River right to its glacial source at Manaslu base camp.
Walk leads around high scenic Manaslu valley in between mighty peaks of Mid West Himalaya with Manaslu range Bouddha and Himalchuli including array of lesser peaks exploring local villages of great interest adorned with Buddhist religion of ancient heritage and culture.
After walking into pristine woodland of tall pines and rhododendron then reaching a windswept arid and scenic country after Sama-Gaon heading off the beaten tracks away from mainstream trekking trails to pure wilderness of mountains and glaciers for the summit bid on top Mt. Manaslu and then after the climb heading back on the same route back to the road head at Soti-Khola village where interesting drive bring you to Kathmandu with grand remarkable adventure on Mt. Manaslu Expeditions.

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, received by Himex guides and staff with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in getting refreshed rendezvous with other climbing members and staff.
Here our chief guide and group leader will brief you with full information of the treks and climb on Mt. Manaslu Expedition, includes welcome group dinner in lively Nepalese Restaurants with cultural program of all Nepal.
In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Expeditions.
Reserved two full days in Kathmandu for final preparations and packing as well to purchase necessary equipments, meeting and to collect permits from concern Government department for the expeditions, during these days one can join in for optional sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur cities, where you will be soaked within culture and historical sites most of the monuments listed as World Heritage Sites.
Drive to Soti Khola 730 m - 05hrs
Morning overland journey on main busy highway of Nepal heading towards Mid West zone around Dhading and Gorkha district,drive leads through Himalayan foothills within warmer areas past many farm villages and town.
Finally our exciting drive reaches at Arughat town by the raging Buri-Gandaki River within warm sub-tropical area, here taking a rough jeep track road following the river past many farm village and fields to reach our first overnight spot at Soti Khola.
Trek to Machha Khola 930m - 06 hrs.
From Maccha Khola village, starting our first day walk following Buri-Gandaki River upstream through many farm villages, crossing over Nuali khola with views of waterfalls and then cross a stream to Machha Khola for overnight stop. This village named as Machha Khola meaning Fish streams.
Trek to Jagat 1,410m - 06 hrs.
After stop at Macha Khola morning follows Buri Gandaki River upstream, to reach Khorla Beshi a small farm village from here on winding path to reach at Tatopani village with “Hot Spring,” an opportunity for hot bathe on refreshing spring.
After a nice rest walk carries on passing villages of Dovan and Yaruphant to reach Jagat village, after crossing a short suspension bridge, Jagat a moderate size farm villages with shops and stores.
Trek to Dyang 1,800 m - 06 hrs.
From Jagat, walk continues heading higher areas through many small farm villages and then a short climb with downhill crossing over suspension bridge to reach at Nagjet and Philim, a large village with scattered farm houses. After Philim walk through farm terraces of golden fields of wheat’s and barley, then a climb on rocky ridge top into bamboo forest area to our overnight stop at Dyang village.
Trek to Ghap 2,160 m - 04 hrs
Morning walk from Dyang leads to cooler area where you can feel rise in altitude, on entering Himalayan alpine region, continue walk downhill to a river side to reach at Bihi Bazaar a small village near a river side.
From here onwards encountering more villages of strong Tibetan culture, walk leads on gentle trail with few short ups and downs till Ghap village is reached for overnight stop.
Trek to Lo Gaon 3,180 m - 06 hrs.
From Ghap village with nice good walk following Burigandaki River, then crossing this river through small farm villages and cultivated farm fields of barley, wheat and millets to reach at Numrung village with first close views of Mt. Manaslu North Face and adjoining peaks. Walk continues passing few villages of Banjham, Lhi and Sho, then as altitude gains with an hour up to Shrip village to Lo Gaon for overnight stop in a nice cozy lodge.
Trek to Sama Gaon 3,530 m - 05 hrs
After Lo Gaon tree lines fades only for few short juniper bushes and some willow trees, walk leads on nice path with views of peaks and finally the day ends at Sama Gaon for overnight stop, this is a large mountain village located on route Manaslu base camp, Larkya-la pass and to Tibet border.
Rest day in Sama Gaon for acclimatization.
Rest Day in Sama Gaon, which is an ideal place for necessary acclimatization before the climb and to reach high Manaslu base camp, at Sama Gaon explore this interesting village similar to Tibetan culture in traditional way of life.
Trek to Manaslu Base Camp 4,400m -05 hours.
After a nice and pleasant rest at Sama-Gaon, morning walk with gradual climb towards Manaslu Base Camp, as paths meanders on a winding track towards south leaving the main trekking trail behind towards complete wilderness.
As the walk progress with rapid gain in altitude with views of Manaslu massive range and its adjoining peaks, finally walk leads to our destination at the foot of Mt. Manaslu on a large summer pasture area, where our base camp will be set for the climb.
At Base Camp rest and preparation for the climb.
A rest day for acclimatization and preparations for the Big Climb to the summit of Mt. Manaslu, here our guide and leader will provide you with necessary information regarding the climb and technique skill required for the climb.
Trek and climb to Advance Camp at 5,980m - 04 hrs.
From base camp head cross a high plateau and then skirting around a ridge of lateral moraine to reach at very foot of Mt. Manaslu, and then few hours of tough walk with steep climb brings you on high areas where a suitable camp site is located to set our Advance Camp.
(20 days) Climb Mt. Manaslu summit with much preparation.
We have reserved maximum of 20 days for the final bid and ascent on top Mt. Manaslu from Advance Camp, after much preparation where our leader and head guide will control with daily routine of the expeditions.
Normally establishing Camp I, at 5,260 meters and then camp II, above 5,600 m before returning to Advance Camp for rest and final preparation.
One might find it odd on losing altitude at Camp I and II after Advance Camp as the walk and climb leads you up and then down which makes acclimatization much better for the climb.
Our team of guides will establish camp III, above 6,700 meters with members sleeping only one night at the top camp before heading to the summit top.
From Advance Camp walk and climb through moraine covered glacier with climb and short descend to Camp I at 5,260 meters. If there’s no snow a steep path leads up to an interminable scree slope which will be much support for the climb.
The camp is located on a broad snow field at the foot of the ridge leading up to a serac barrier which is one of the few technical sections on route.
At about 7,500 meters the ridge is blocked by a line of ice cliffs here fixing ropes and snow bars. Normally we will have one rope for the ascent and another for descent on this pitch, which is about 60 meters high.
The toughest section of the climb but with less difficulty, high above the serac climb out onto a plateau cut by huge crevasses, a winding path between to pitch Camp II at about 5,600 meters.
Above Camp II broad snow slopes lead more easily to Camp III at 6,700 meters. This is the highest camp and make the summit bid from here. Summit day as always involves an early start. Depending on snow conditions might encounter some easy scrambling as the climb gets in progress making way up and across the low angled South West Face.
The top of the summit a small plateau offering views of Annapurna-Lamjung and Ganesh Himal with adjoining peaks of Manaslu range Bouddha and Himal Chuli. Normally it is possible to descend from the summit all the way to advance base camp on the same day. This will depend on snow conditions and members fitness.
20 days for climb from the last major and Advance Camp, where climb leads over moraine towards the summit of Mt. Manaslu at 8,163m / 26,781 ft.
After being on top feeling in high spirit with exciting thrill and an adventure of a lifetime experience then descend safely back towards Base Camp using few camps on long descend.
Back to Base Camp.
After an adventurous climb return back to Base Camp, on these two days all climbing party and member including guide and staff should reach at base camp, to assist packing equipments and checking each member health condition after a great classic climb as well to get organize setting off from Manaslu base camp for Kathmandu.
Rest and cleaning up with packing at Base Camp.
All climbing members and staff should be at base camp to pack and ferry load with time to rest and relax after a long haul to the summit top.
With two days for rest and cleaning up the base camp, start packing climbing gears and disposing garbage in proper sites, where our leader-Government Liaison Officer will check the camp and depositing the litter and bringing it back from the base camp to proper disposal sites or to Kathmandu.
Trek to Sama-Gaon.
After a successful climb on top Manaslu after cleaning up the base camp, return trek to Sama Gaon walking back on route Birendra Tal a glacial lake at an altitude of 3,450 m. From here another two hours walk reaches back at Sama-Gaon for overnight stop in the comfort of nice lodge.
Trek to Lo-Gaon - 05 hrs.
From here onward retrace the journey back to nice village of Lo Gaon and into green and tree lines, after a marvelous trek reaching at Lo Gaon, with time to explore its lovely village full of culture.
Trek to Jagat via Dyang.
Walk continues to reach lower warm areas of Gorkha district heading with much descend following the Burigandaki downstream to reach at Dyang and to Jagat villages within two days of wonderful walks.
Trek to Philim 1,590 m - 07 hours.
Walk leads into more farm villages and nice tended fields and terraces with millet-barley and other crops, as the morning walk drops on losing altitude every hour reaching warmer areas of rice paddies at Philim village, a nice and loveliest village of Manaslu and Gorkha areas.
Trek to Tatopani (Hot Spring) - 06 hours.
Retrace the journey back to Tatopani village with Hot Spring another opportunity to refresh and as well relax the muscle from the climb at Tatopani with much time to enjoy.
Trek back to Soti-Khola.
Retrace the journey to Soti-Khola on downhill trail reaching into warmer areas of sub-tropical temperature walking past interesting villages and farm terraces,after enjoying in hot spring at Tatopani, as our trek ends at Soti-Khola for last overnight stop of this marvelous adventure on Mt. Manaslu Expeditions.
Drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.

With full two days reserved as contingency or a spare day in case of delay on climb or on local drive, which can occur due to landslide with bad weather conditions on this free days enjoy relaxing or join in for sightseeing tour.
On these days our leader and guide will submit the reports of Mt. Manaslu Expeditions to concern Nepal Government Tourism department.
