Introduction:
Around Manaslu Trekking begins from ancient Gorkha of Shah dynasty former kingdoms where interesting drive from Kathmandu leads to Nepal Mid West Himalaya at Arughat town and around typical Nepalese traditional farm villages to start our fabulous walks.
Adventure around Manaslu trekking follows Buri-Gandaki River upstream all the way to its glacial source at high Manaslu valley, hidden between high mountains, our walk starts from sub-tropical areas of farm and forested areas to reach dry and windswept scenic country at Upper Gorkha areas around Manaslu.
Around Manaslu Trekking offers outstanding views of Mt. Manaslu 8,156m, listed as world eighth highest peaks along with panorama of magnificent peaks as far towards Ganesh Himal and Annapurna Himalaya.
As trek progress heading into cooler alpine areas within beautiful woodland with tall pines and rhododendron (national flower of Nepal) trees, heading into nice and lovely villages of Philim-Jagat-Deng-Lo Gaon to reach at Sama Gaon, a nice large village of high Manaslu areas.
Journey around Manaslu trek continues past Sama Gaon to reach last village at Samdu and then across high Larkey -La pass to reach other side within dense forest at Bhimthang around Manang district where popular Annapurna circuit joins at Dharapani village.
Our trek slowly comes to an end on reaching Chamje village where an exciting overland drive leads downhill back into low warmer areas and past Besisar town towards Kathmandu, after a magnificent time with great adventure Around Manaslu Trekking.

Trip Dossier:
Day 01:
Arrival in Kathmandu 1,300m via respective airlines.
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport, received by our staff for transfer to your hotel, where our guide provides briefing of the Hotel, Kathmandu, Trekking / Lodge on route with do's and don'ts with other necessary information.
Day 02:
A day in Kathmandu with half day sightseeing tour.
Morning with half day sightseeing tour in and around Kathmandu at places of interest, Kathmandu valley steeped with historical monuments listed in World Heritage Sites, after few hours of exciting tour heading back to hotel with time for trek preparation Around Manaslu.
Day 03:
Trek to Machha-Khola 890m -05 hrs.
From Soti-Khola, our trail cuts into a steep valley, which is densely forested passing through a number of small villages tucked on a hillside, then heading towards a wide valley, opposite the point where a large tributary stream enters into Buri Gandaki River.
The terraced cultivated fields belong to upper village of Lapbesi, from here walks descends towards a wide sandy riverbed which follows a trail with steep, craggy valley side, at length leading to a climb up once again on the trail to Machha Khola for overnight stop, which has a number of teashops and lodge for trekkers.
Day 04:
Trek to Jagat 1,350m - 07 hrs.
The trail from here leads to more interesting farm villages and fields as vegetation changes slowly, beginning our morning walk crossing stream that gives its name Machha Khola (Fish stream) and heading upstream to a tiny village of Khorlabensito reach at Tatopani which means Hot Water / Spring.
From here valley sides becomes steeper, until our trail becomes impassable and then our route leads to cross over a bridge, after a short section of forest path coming to some teahouses at Doban.
Above Dobhan where Burigandaki River flows down into impressive torrent rapids, beyond this steep section, the river becomes calmer, meandering across a broad gravel bed.
On reaching Lauri cross a River on a suspension bridge which leads to a climb on a high path, and then descend into an open valley at place known as Yara Khola.
Our journey continues on for another hour to Jagat for overnight stop, Jagat a moderate size village after Arughat; the people around here are of mixed race Magar, Chettris, Brahaman, Bhotias (Tibetan looking tribes) and some few Newars merchant and shopkeepers.
Day 05:
Trek to Deng 1,950m - 07 hrs.
The trail from Jagat descends to a long series of stone steps to a river, from here climb over terraced hillside to Saguleri, overlooking distance view of Sringi Himal 7,187m, walk follows ups and down trail to a bridge over Buri-Gandaki, after crossing, trail winds up towards Philim village.
From here climb starts slowly along a hillside past small settlements of Aga, Lokwa, after Lokwa downhill to Nyak/Eklaibhati near Shiarkhola with great views over the valley towards Pangsing Bhanjyang around Ganesh Himal.
An hour walk crossing to the east side of the river. The path follows up and down in some section the trail is cut into the sheer cliff walls, after this dramatic portion the track finally improves as the walk leads to Deng village for overnight stop.
Houses and terrains completely changes into more Tibetan like from here onwards. The people here are of more Tibetan origin along with their ancient Buddhist culture.
Day 06:
Trek to Ghap 2,156m via Bih - 07 hrs.
An interesting part of the journey where high farm villages cultivates buck wheat, wheat, barley and potatoes as staple crops, since trekking became popular around the area, spinach, carrots and cabbages are also grown.
From Deng morning journey leads to Bih, after couple hours walks, astrek continues for another two hours on this steep sided and impressive valley, coming across Mani prayer stone and finally arriving at Ghap village for overnight stops.
Day 07:
Trek to Lo-Gaon 3,150m- 06 hrs.
From here onwards walk leads into cooler areas, gaining more heights to enter into alpine forest of pines, rhododendron, oaks and fir tree lines. Walk continues steeper up as valley opens out with quite extensive pastures and then steady climb to cross a large stream flowing down from Lidana Glacier.
On the walk overlooking magnificent view of snow peaks of north Kutang (Manaslu) Himal range with Pang Phuchin 6,335m, and Saula Himal 6,235m and other unnamed peaks of over 6000m.
On the southern lies Manaslu Himal and Simang Himal range with its array of over 7000m peaks, as walk gets pleasant with gradual uphill where elevation gains slowly as walk leads through farm villages of Sho-Namru, Beng-sam till the village of Sho.
People from here onwards are engaged in farming during the summer, the young folks in winter travels to trade in big cities Nepal, and India. Just above the village of Sho, scenery of Manaslu north and then of main Manaslu peaks towering high above at 8,163m, an hour walk takes you to Lo-Gaon for overnight stop in this nice large village with a small monastery having numerous chorten, Mani walls with views of Ganesh I.
Day 08:
Trek to Sama Gompa 3,500m - 05 hrs.
On leaving Lo village, trek continues following the river on right bank, with view of Peak 29 ahead, Two hours of climb leads into forested area and to the village of Shala with excellent view of Phungi, Manaslu and Himal Chuli.
As walk proceeds heading to our overnight stop at Samagaon village, with superb view of Mt. Manaslu. Samagaon, one of the largest village of the region, villagers are farmers growing what they could in this harsh terrains and cold climate, yielding buck wheat, barley which are the main crops besides potatoes and few varieties of vegetables grown in this high altitude soil.
Manaslu people like their ancestors descended from Tibet as early as 300 years back, the culture and their living style is very much like they predecessor of Tibetan origin and heritage way of traditional life.
Villagers still trade with Tibet where the border is a day walk for the locals. It is one of the old salt trade route of Nepal to Tibet.
Day 09:
Rest day at Sama Gompa.
Today a rest day, free from packing; a day hike is worthwhile towards Manaslu glacier or on route to its base camp.
From Sama-Gaon optional walk up to Sama Gompa / Monastery, which above the village one of the major Nyligpa (red hat sect) Monastery of the region.
Day 10:
Trek to Samdu 3,780m approx: 5 hours.
After an easy day at Sama Gompa, today's trek climbs slowly towards Samdu and beyond. Actually the walk to Samdu is not too far can be done within 3-4 hours but due to high altitude with dry air makes walk a little slower than earlier days.
From Sama Gaon walk towards a high plateau and then skirt around a ridge of lateral moraine heading towards Karmo Kharka and Kermo Mamam, as trek advance near Samdu village then climb a terraced hillside on the opposite bank of Budhi Gandaki to reach one of the most remote permanent settlements in Nepal, at Samdu.
A moderate size village with some 40 houses and about 200villagers lives in this the last village before Larkya-La.
Day 11:
Trek to Larke Phedi near a Guest House 4,450m -04 hrs.
From Samdu the track leads to more barren areas, walk begins on wild mountain path crossing Gyala Khola, then ascending to a ridge where ruins of a village known as Larkya Bazaar use to exist. Presumably this village once thrived on trade with Tibet over Gya La, a trade which at present has diminished.
Walk continues over Larkya Glacier reaching at Duwang with a lodge located at the base of Larke-la Pass, known as Larke Phedi meaning bottom of the pass or a hill.
Day 12:
Cross Larke-La pass at 5,135m and descend to Bhimtang - 08 hrs.
Morning walk from Larkyaphedi (bottom) heading towards top of Larke-la at 5,135m high, as our route leads up with gradual winding climb above the lodge, to reach an ablation valley on the north side of the Larke Glacier with magnificent views of Cho Danda and then of Larke Peak.
Finally, walk heads across moraines and glacier, making a gradual ascent which becomes steeper in the last section to the top of the pass.
From the pass, outstanding views of Himlung, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru and Annapurna II can be seen after a wonderful moment on the highest spot, descend follows over snow and scree to reach a valley trail to Larcia.
Further hour of walks leads to Tambuche at 3,900m and with short distance walk to Bhimthang for overnight stop, after a long hard and exciting day.
Bhimthang, a lovely place on a broad valley with a number of mani walls and lodges to stay within forest surrounding.
Day 13:
Trek to Goe 2,560 m -05 hrs.
After a long day walk to Bhimthang, from here towards Dharapanion pleasant trail through deep forest of pines, rhododendron and summer pastures with occasional views of snow peaks.
From Bhimthang after crossing a high pasture, walk descends to a valley of Burdin Khola near the base camp of west side of Manaslu.
From the ridge excellent views of Manaslu to the south east with Annapurna II, beyond a bridge over headwaters of Dudh Khola, walk descend following a trail through narrow valley and into serene forest to Goe, in the midst of forest surrounding.
Day 14:
Trek to Tal Besi 1,730 m via Dharapani village 1,943m - 06 hrs.
From Goe our last walk of the adventure leads downhill through forest past small summer settlement and then after an hour or more of gradual walk, climb to a terraced fields at Karche La, offering views of green and heavily forested valley, then dropping down to Marysangdi River.
After few hours of walk reaching at a nice village Tilje and then an hour climb to cross a bridge to Dharapani, where main trail of Annapurna circuit joins.
Around Dharapani into new area within Manang district, where culture similar to Manaslu people of Tibetan origin with Buddhist religion, few hours of gentle walk following Marysangdi River downstream to reach a wide valley at Tal Besi with many good lodges for overnight stops.
Day 15:
Drive back to Kathmandu via Besisar town - 07 hrs.
Morning our last day Around Manaslu trek ends, where scenic drive follows a winding trail and then downhill past farm terraces to Jagat village, village with same name as on Manaslu route.
Drive from here offers spectacular view of waterfall to reach at Syange village by the Marysangdi River, ride continues past Khudi village and then on main road from Besisar, a large town and headquarter of Lamjung district and then another five hours drive to reach back at Kathmandu.
Day 16:
Free day in Kathmandu.
Free day at leisure for independent activities, please inform our office staff for short tour in and around Kathmandu at places of interest.
Day 17:
Transfer to Airport for International departure.
Today as per your international flight time, our staff transfers you to airport for final departure from the country of Himalayan Wonders, Nepal.
