Introduction:

This is outstanding highland trip is more of a walking journey with time to immerse in the beautiful surrounding and explore villages and monasteries. The stay there also allows you to sample the warm hospitality of the Sherpa people in the comfort of cozy hotels and resorts in the high altitude.

Adventure begins with a sweeping flight to Lukla, a popular destination, which provides a fascinating contrast to the high mountainscapes as the flight approaches our destination. With our flexible itinerary, one can take time with the walk enjoying the lovely surrounding and its people. This wonderful trip starts from and ends in Lukla with a destination to the Shyangboche hill top for the outstanding views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Lhotse Shar including the magnificent Mt. Ama Dablam, Kangtenga, Thamserku, Kwangde and the sacred peak of Khumbi-La. 

The next trip is an exciting one that leads to the Sherpa capital Namche Bazaar where you will have enough time to acclimatize before ascending to higher elevation. After a wonderful time here, we take the quiet trail to Syangboche hill top with incredible view of Mt. Khangtiaga, Mt. Thamserku and the Nuptse – Lhotse wall with Mt. Everest rearing above. On reaching the highland Resort at Shyangboche, we can spend the ample time for local hike around the traditional Sherpa village of Khumjung and Khunde, and visit the only monastery that owns a Yeti scalp.

One can hire a pony for the ride around as far as Thyangboche which is an excellent view point of the magnificent Mt. Ama Dablam 6,900m and other great snow giant peaks.

Our descent will take us to the Monjo and Benkar village before returning to Lukla. A scenic flight to Kathmandu concludes a spectacular walking journey to the roof of the world.

Itinerary

Day 01:

Arrive at Kathmandu 1,300m.

 

On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport you will be received by our staff and transfer you to respective 5 star Hotel, where our guide will give you a brief orientation of the Hotel, Kathmandu, Trekking, do’s and don’t and other related information that you might require while in Nepal.

   

Day 02:

A day in Kathmandu.

 

After your first night in Kathmandu, you will be well informed on arrival about the time for your half day guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest. Sometime, depending upon your flight arrival if it’s late in the night we will do this tour in the afternoon instead of morning to give you a nice rest before you venture out of the Hotel in our interesting tour.

   

Day 03:

Fly Kathmandu-Lukla. 2,800m. Approx: 35 minutes flight.

 

Early morning after breakfast you will be transferred from the Hotel to domestic Airport, a short drive of half an hour. After necessary security formalities (keep your pen-knife-lighter-matches and other sharp cutting items including scissors and other knife in the bigger baggage not in hand bags) board in the smaller Twin Otter or similar type of aircraft for the sweeping panoramic flight to Lukla, on arrival you will be received by our guides. In Lukla you will have time to wander around and browse around the small growing town, or go for a short hike on the suburb of Lukla.

   

Day 04:

Trek to Monjo 2,835m via Phakding 5 hrs.

 

The walk from Lukla is gradual most of the way, with few ups from Tarhe khola, where you can have a superb view of Kusum-Kangru 6,369m, crossing a short suspension bridge, from here after a short climb brings to the Ghat village, another hour of good walk brings you to Phakding village for lunch stop near the bank of the Dudh-Kosi river. After a good break at Phakding, walk continues for another hour towards Monjo Village. On reaching Monjo after the last minutes climb from the stream, where you can observe an interesting water-mill grinding roasted corns and barley for Tsampa, one of the staple foods of the Sherpas, Tibetans and other mountain people. Monjo is situated below the magnificent peak of Thamserku and near the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, overnight at the Resort.

   

Day 05:

To Namche Bazaar 3,440m. Approx.  3-4hrs.

 

After few minutes walk from Monjo, comes to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, where your trekking permit especially the park ticket is checked and keeps the record of all trekkers going to and from this place including the local trekking staff as well, if you have a video camera please let them check, for a normal home video camera is free to carry and shoot inside the park, but for bigger commercial camera a fee of US00 is charged. From here a short descend and a gradual walk brings you to Jorsalle village, the last village till Namche Bazaar is reached. After a short walk, a second bridge is reached over the same river, the walk is pleasant on the river bed till the last bridge over the Imjatse river, from here the walk is along the winding uphill path all the way to Namche Bazaar, with magnificent view of Kwangde peak and it other sister peaks towards east, with Kusum kangru on the back as you climb higher, view of Mt. Everest- Nuptse wall, Lhotse and the closer view of Tawache peak can be seen all the way up to Thop Danda, where there’s a resting stone wall for the porters and trekkers. From here another 1-2 hour walk up leads you to the famed Namche Bazaar, the colourful houses are situated in an amphitheatre U shaped bowl.

   

Day 06:

Rest Day at Namche Bazaar.

 

Suggested activities a short walk uphill to the Sagarmatha National Park headquarter, a magnificent spot perched on top of Namche Bazaar with breathe taking view of the surrounding snow capped giants and the valleys way down, with an interesting museum with all kinds of information regarding the history of the Himalayas, geographic, culture, mountaineering history and existing information on flora and fauna of this region, afternoon at leisure.

   

Day 07:

Trek to Shyangboche 3,880m. 3-4 hrs walks. 

 

After a wonderful time at Namche Bazaar, our route leads uphill for two hours with grand views of Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Kwangde and birds eye views of Namche down below. The uphill path finally ends at the airstrip of Shyangboche from here onwards a gentle trail brings you to the overnight halt at Everest View Hotel ( world’s highest Hotel), situated on the ridge overlooking the snow capped peaks including super view of Mt. Everest..

   

Day 08-09:

At Everest View Hotel.

 

Enjoy the breakfast along with the views of Mt. Everest and array of other high peaks. Optional hike to the Khumjung Monastery and its monastery and to Khunde Village which is just 30 minutes apart. Around this area chances of seeing the beautiful colourful Danphe pheasant (Impeyan Pheasant) national bird of Nepal and the elusive musk deer, and sometimes even herd of Himalayan Thar (mountain goat like large antelope)

   

Day 10:

Trek to Phakding 5 hour walks.

 

Retrace the journey back to Monjo and then to Phakding for the overnight stop via Namche and Monjo.

   

Day 11:

Trek back to Lukla 3-4 hours walk.

 

Last day of this great walk will be one of the good walk to Lukla, you can walk at your own chosen pace, leisurely and enjoying the lush green scenery around.
Apart from few short uphill the only long climb will be just before Lukla which will take approximately 45 minutes from a place called Choplung or from the old big oak tree. On reaching Lukla, prepare for the last day great dinner and a party with the fellow Sherpa crew, porters and trekking members.

   

Day 12:

Fly back to Kathmandu.

 

The flight time to Kathmandu, are schedule for morning normally sometime the flight time can be delayed due to bad weather and other reason, this scenic flight from Lukla takes about 35 minutes to Kathmandu, a panoramic view of the snow capped peaks can be seen during the flight. Arriving at Kathmandu domestic terminal our HimEX staff will receive and transfer you back to the Hotel.

   

Day 13:

In Kathmandu.

 

A free day in Kathmandu, please inform our staff if you would like to go on another short tour in and around Kathmandu Valley.

   

Day 14:

Transfer to Airport for the International departure.

 

Today as per your international flight time, keep your confirmed air ticket, and your passport handy. HimEX Staff will take you to the airport for your final departure from Nepal.

Day 14-15:

2 days rafting at Trisuli River.

 

Morning three hours drive to Rafting “put in point” at Trisuli River meet our river guide and crew members and start 3 hrs rafting with lunch on the way this scenic float encounters white water rapids, bouncy waves and overnight stop at Riverside Resorts.
Next morning float till lunch and drive to the low lands of Nepal and to the Jungle at Chitwan National Park for elephant safari and other jungle activities overnight at Jungle Lodge (3-4 star standards Hotel or Lodge)

   

Day 15-16:

2-3 days Jungle Safari at Chitwan National Park.

 

Full day Jungle activities with lunch and dinner break, the program include elephant safari, nature walks, elephant bathing, dug out canoe ride observing water birds and crocs on the shore.

   

Day 17:

Fly back to Kathmandu. 

 

Morning after breakfast depart the Lodge for a drive to Bharatpur Airport the flight takes less than half hour, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective Hotels.

   

Day 18:

Depart Kathmandu for homeward bound.

 

Today as per your international flight time, keep your confirmed air ticket, and your passport handy. HimEX Staff will take you to the airport for your final departure from Nepal.

If you are not tied up with time limitations, or have more time before or after your main trip with us, you can join / take following extension trips to make your holiday even interesting. According to extra time you have, you can choose a visit to National Parks for jungle safari viewing rare animals, migrant birds and exotic reptiles or enjoy the whitewater rafting or take a cultural tour of Kathmandu, Pokhara, Nagarkot or even make a quick visit to neighboring countries of Tibet – Roof of the world, India – The country of wonders, Bhutan – The Dragon Kingdom.

We can add these extensions before or after your holiday according to the flights that you have booked / can book. Beside these, if you even want just stay in Kathmandu for relax or any independent activities, we can book extra nights at the Hotel. Chitwan National Park

It is one of the oldest and popular National Parks in Nepal recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Site. More than 500 Asian one-horned rhinoceros and some 100 nocturnal Royal Bengal Tigers have made their home in this dense forest. There are an estimated 50 species of mammals, over 526 species of birds, 49 amphibians and reptiles and 150 species of butterflies.

The park is spread over an area of 932 sq kms and located in the lowlands of Nepal. The forest cover is predominantly Sal, interspersed with tall grasslands, small hills, ox-bow lakes and flood plains.

Bardia National Park

The park provides excellent habitat for endangered animals like the rhinoceros, wild elephant, tiger, fresh water Dolphin and many other species of mammals along with over 200 species of birds.

Kathmandu

It is a treasure trove of ancient art and architecture that lie hidden in the labyrinth of manmade structures. The ancient pagoda temples and Buddhist stupas stand majestically above the rest of the landmarks. The Palace squares fascinate visitors with its exquisite woodwork and carving. Pokhara

Pokhara is most popular tourist destination after Kathmandu, not because of its easy accessibility but because of its scenic beauty and proximity to many Himalayas. Useful Information for Travelling to Tibet:

Tibet remains one of the most interesting but least developed parts in the world. With its very short history of tourism, the facilities for tourists though upgraded are still at basic and limited scale. Its limited facilities for tourists are now approaching to a reasonable standard. The road between Tibet and Nepal is not up to standard at places. It is rough, bumpy and full of bends which is often obstructed temporarily during monsoon months. However every effort will be made under the circumstances to ensure a smooth and pleasant trip.

Altitude sickness: Traveling in Tibet involves high altitude and could be strenuous. Travelers with known heart or lung or blood diseases should seek doctor’s advice before booking the trip. It is always advisable to drink at least 3 liters of water everyday while on the tour.

Clothing accessories: The weather at this altitude remains cool throughout the year. From October till March, warm clothes such as thermal underwear are required. April till September, light clothes for the day and a warm jacket or a sweater is must for the evenings. The other recommended items are: personal medical first aid kit, water purification tablets (though mineral water can be bought), toilet & tissue papers, flashlight, comfortable walking shoes, sleeping bag, dust mask, sun hat, sun glasses and sun block cream.

Food and drinks: Tibetan cuisine is not exactly the most varied in the world. It is always handy to carry dry food and biscuits or anything that can be brewed with hot water such as coffee and drinking chocolate.

Customs: No prohibition on still and video cameras, tape recorders or radios as long as they are registered with custom officials and are of personal use. Printed matters considered unsuitable by the Chinese govt. are prohibited.

Insurance Policy: It is most advisable that clients should have full insurance against medical and personal accidents.

Booking formalities and visa: Minimum two weeks is required to book the trip from Kathmandu in advance along with the deposit of your passport for visa process and a full payment of the tour should be done. From overseas, at least 3-4 weeks with all your personal and passport details are required with payment required as per the company’s rules and regulations.

Tibet visa can be obtained from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. The Chinese Visa obtained from other parts of the world to mainland China will not be sufficient. We will need to process the travel permit in advance and once we have the visa approval from TTB, we can then apply the Tibet entry visa from Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.

Important: Please remember that if you have valid Chinese Visa in your passport and if you are applying the Tibet visa at the same time, the valid Chinese Visa will be cancelled by the Chinese Embassy.

Cancellation: Incase of any cancellation of the tour prior to departure, a cancellation policy as per the company’s rules and regulation shall be applied.

Risk and Liability: Tibet tours are run strictly under TIBET TOURISM BUREAU, we or our agents shall not be responsible for any changes or cancellation of the programs due to road blockade, cancellation of flight, sickness or accident, political unrest etc. Any extras cost thereof shall be borne by the clients.

 

India

ACTIVITIES

River Rafting

Rafting is undoubtedly the best way to explore the Arcadian Nepal. It involves excitement, scenic views and challenge. Nepal has numerous fine rivers for rafting, kayaking or canoeing. The most prominent white water rafting regions are the eastern, the mid and the western rivers. Of all these regions, river Trisuli and the Bhotekoshi are the main popular rafting rivers for short trips. The rivers sometimes offer hair raising roller coaster rides. The float down stream is exhilarating and the scenery of the valley gorges between Himalaya and min Himalayan range is equally captivating. So whatever duration or level of excitement you need we have it.

 

Mount Everest Flight

Mountain flight is truly a memorable experience that one should not miss out in Nepal. Just imagination of jumping down from a bridge of 160m above a tropical gorge with the Bhote Koshi, one of the Nepal’s wildest rivers raging below is enough to make your heartbeat run faster. It is the thrill of Bungy jumping as it there is no fun for real adventure lover if challenge is not so hard and difficult. It is located within a reach of 4 hours outside Kathmandu and just 19 kms away from the Tibet Border.

The Bungy bridge happens to be the only privately owned bridge in Nepal. It has been specially designed for Bungy Jumping with a 4X safety factors and has a loading factor of 41,500kg or 4.5 tons according to Swiss measurement.

 

Paragliding

(Flying like a bird)

Paragliding is relatively new adventure sports in Nepal. Paragliding in this Himalayan country can be a truly wonderful and fulfilling experience for the adventure seekers. You can experience unparalleled scenic grandeur as you share airspace with Himalayan griffin vultures, eagles, kites while floating over the villages, monasteries, temples, lakes and the jungle with a fantastic view of the majestic Himalayas.

The main area for flying in Nepal is the Annapurna region, more specifically the Pokhara valley. This lakeside town is Nepal’s second city, nestled at the foot of the Annapurna Himal.
