Across the Indian Himalaya - The epic descent from the
Khardung La (5380m.), the highest road pass on earth - Ladakh's friendly people - Rugged and pectacular landscapes - The sheer challenge Flying to the Ladakhi capital of Leh, we spend 6 days acclimatising and preparing for our classic trans-Himalayan adventure. During this time, we visit several of the area's colourful Buddhist monasteries, enjoy a day's whitewater rafting on the Indus, ride the amazing jeep road from Chilling in the Zanskar Gorge and also take on the challenge of the astonishing Khardung La. Then, heading south from Leh, we cross India's main Himalayan ranges by a series of 4 high passes, including the Taglang La (5280m.), the
world's second highest road pass. En route, we are exposed to a tremendous variety of landscape and culture, from the high plateau of Ladakh, through the semi-arid plains of Lahaul, to the lush greenery of the Kulu
Valley. Offering an exciting blend of tough climbs and some of the best downhill in the world, set amongst ever-changing scenery, this is one of our
favorite mountain biking holidays.
